CSEP Professional Memberships

For those who want to be active in the field of Exercise Science & Personal Training, there are two certification offered by CSEP: CSEP Certified Personal Trainer ® (CSEP-CPT) and CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologist™ (CSEP-CEP).

CSEP’s standardized core competencies, theory and practical exams, continued professional development and renewal requirements ensure CSEP’s Certified members’ knowledge and skills align with cutting-edge research in exercise science, physiology, health and fitness.

As of November 2019, the name CSEP Certified Exercise Physiologist® changed to CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologist™

CSEP-CPT Certification

A CSEP-CPT administers the CSEP-PATH to healthy populations and individuals with one chronic, stable condition. They develop and implement tailored physical activity, fitness and lifestyle plans for clients.

CSEP-CEP Certification

A CSEP-CEP performs assessments, prescribes conditioning exercise, as well as exercise supervision, counseling and healthy lifestyle education in apparently healthy individuals, populations with medical conditions, functional limitations or disabilities, and high performance athletes across the lifespan.
