It supports activities and purchases that directly contribute to the development and growth of their services in exercise physiology, fitness, or physical activity promotion and assessment. The initiative is designed to empower members to make impactful advancements in their practice, aligning with the broader objectives of CSEP.
- The grant is available to CSEP Certified members who have obtained a business number and/or established a business location in the last two years.
- Priority will be given to members with businesses registered with the Canada Revenue Agency and primarily operating in Canada, though international members may also apply.
- Expenses must directly support the member’s practice expansion and development in exercise physiology, fitness, or physical activity promotion and assessment. Costs for common items like printers and office supplies are not covered.
- All funded activities should align with the CSEP Certified member’s professional scope of practice.
- Grant recipients may be asked to contribute to the peer review process for this grant in future rounds.
- The proposal should not exceed two pages, single-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman or 11-point Arial font with 2 cm margins, excluding supporting documents like quotes.
- Include an outline of the equipment to be purchased or the activity to be conducted, with detailed information provided in the budget section.
- Describe the significance of the equipment or activity in enhancing the professional member’s practice.
- Detail the member’s capability to utilize the equipment or conduct the activity, considering their previous training, experience, and available support resources.
- Explain the anticipated growth in the member’s practice post-support, aligning with CSEP’s mission.
- Provide a separate budget justification and financial need statement, including equipment quotes, not counted in the two-page limit.
- Submit a professional resume highlighting experiences as a CSEP member.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- The CSEP Member Services Committee will conduct a qualitative review of nominations, assessing consistency and impact in line with CSEP’s objectives.
- Applications will be scored, with one-third based on the member’s historical community and client impact, and two-thirds on the proposal’s merit, including need, potential impact, relevance of activities, and alignment with CSEP’s mission.
- A scoring system from 1 to 5 will be employed.
- Unsuccessful applicants will receive detailed feedback.
- Applications demonstrating greater financial need may receive priority.
- The recipient will be announced at the CSEP Annual Conference gala.
- The award recipient will receive a complimentary registration for the CSEP Annual Conference, valid within two calendar years for the date of the receipt of the grant.
- Following the CSEP Annual Conference, the award recipient will receive up to a $2,500 (CAD) grant.
- The applicant may be invited to convey the impact of this grant in a future CSEP newsletter.
