This designation honours a CSEP academic or professional member who has made significant contributions to the society, distinct from their research achievements. The CSEP Fellowship celebrates individuals who have demonstrated leadership, fostered excellence in research, and enhanced connections within the membership. Recognizing those who have played pivotal roles in advancing CSEP’s mission, this fellowship acknowledges members who have initiated major projects, actively participated in organizing key events, contributed to governance, promoted CSEP’s role in the community, or made other notable efforts to support and advance the society.
- Provide evidence of service or leadership that has inspired excellence and building bridges among the membership that have significantly impacted CSEP. Evidence may include:
- Creation of a major initiative for CSEP including establishing exercise prescription and guidelines.
- Participation in the organization of the CSEP Annual Conference.
- Extensive service to the governance of CSEP and its committees.
- Strong contributions to the health of one’s surrounding community in alignment with the advancement of the CSEP mission.
- Significant promotion of CSEP as the “principal body for physical activity health and fitness research, and personal training in Canada”.
- Other major contributions to CSEP, its members, or
- communities in alignment with the advancement of the CSEP mission.
- The applicant must be a CSEP member in good standing at the time of application and when receiving the award.
- Current members of the CSEP Board of Directors or Member Services Committee are not eligible for nomination.
- All applicants require nominations from two CSEP members. One of the nominations must be from an academic or certified member.
- Each nomination must include:
- A one-page (~ 300 word) statement outlining their perceptions of the nominee’s specific contributions to CSEP in any capacity, including dates and timelines.
- The statement must include the member’s full name, position, and contact information.
- Nominations are reviewed by the Member Service Committee on the degree to which their service has been consistent and provided impact in a measurable way.
- Applicants not selected will remain in the nomination pool for an additional three years at their discretion.
- The award recipient will be named at the CSEP Annual Conference during the Gala.
- Please note that incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
- The award recipient will be presented with a framed citation at the CSEP Annual Conference during the Gala.
- The CSEP Fellow will receive recognition through an announcement on CSEP’s social media channels and in the Communiqué Newsletter.
- A brief citation highlighting the Fellow’s achievements will be featured on the CSEP website.
- To retain the CSEP Fellow status, continued membership with CSEP is required.
