The purpose of this award is to recognize the contributions of a non-CSEP member (individual or entity) for operating with values shared by CSEP, specifically the promotion of exercise physiology or physical activity. This recognition extends to any Canadian or Canadian entity who demonstrates leadership in promoting these values.
- Examples of possible nominees include, but are not limited to:
- Educators that go beyond their normal scope of practice in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle through physical activity.
- Reporters, broadcasts or podcasts that regularly promote evidence-based practices and counter myths about physical activity.
- Politicians or community leaders who actively engage in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle including physical activity.
- Corporations that create programs to facilitate on-worksite physical activity.
- This recognition is permanent subject to CSEP’s Code of Conduct.
- The award recipient is asked to continue promoting values shared with CSEP (i.e. a healthy lifestyle through evidence-based exercise and physical activity practices).
- Any current CSEP member may nominate an individual or entity.
- The CSEP member must submit a formal one-page formal letter of nomination. This formal letter should include the full name of the nominee as well as relevant information as to the reason for the nomination (i.e. the nominee’s contribution to the community, promotion of exercise physiology or physical activity, relevant literature, education).
- Other supporting documentation or media (i.e. news paper articles, reports, videos, testimonials) may also be included.
- Two additional formal letters of support (one-page maximum each) from other CSEP members may be included in the nomination package. Alternatively, multiple members can sign each letter of nomination.
- Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
- There will be an open call with reminders sent once a year in the Communique and the student newsletter.
- Nominations will be reviewed qualitatively by the CSEP Member Services Committee for the degree to which their activities have been consistent and/or provided an impact aligning with the goals of CSEP.
- Upon award, a framed official certificate shall be provided to a successful nominee. Successful nominees will be contacted by CSEP to arrange, if possible, for a public presentation ceremony. If possible and of interest for the nominee, they will be invited to attend the CSEP Annual Conference. An official announcement of awardees will be made during the CSEP Annual Conference Gala. The list of awardees will also be published on the CSEP website and through press releases.
