The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to CSEP’s Professional Standards Program®. This award recognizes contributions such as, but not limited to committee work, leadership development, and delivery of certifications, and practice and/or research in the healthy and fitness industry.
*Prior to 2015 the Professional Standards Program® was called the Health and Fitness Program; prior to 2022 it was known as the FACA Program.
- The applicant must be a current active CSEP certified member (CSEP-CPT or CSEP-CEP) in good standing and must also have been an active member in good standing during the membership year immediately preceding the award.
- The applicant has made significant contributions to the advancement of the Professional Standards Program® in Canada and is an active participant in committee work, leadership roles, research areas (i.e. presentation and/or publication of basic and applied research with relevance to the health and fitness industry).
- Submit a one-page (~300 words) formal letter of support.
- Include a brief biography and CV.
- Unselected applicants can opt to stay in the nomination pool for one more year.
- Updates to applications are allowed within three years if eligibility criteria are still met.
- Nominations can be made by a CSEP member or through self-nomination; an individual may receive the award once every three years.
- The Professional Standards Committee will review all of the submissions and contact the award recipient to notify them they have been selected.
- Applicants not selected will remain in the nomination pool for an additional year at their discretion.
- Applications within a three-year period may be submitted in the form of an update to the original submission, as long as the nominee continues to meet the award eligibility criteria.
- The award recipient will be presented with a framed citation at the CSEP Annual Conference.
- Following the CSEP Annual Conference, the recipient will receive a $500 (CAD) honorarium.
