The purpose of this award is to acknowledge the outstanding research and/or work conducted by a professional member (CSEP Certified Personal Trainers® (CSEP-CPT) and CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologists™ (CSEP-CEP). The research and/or work must contribute directly to the health and fitness industry. The recipient will provide a presentation at the CSEP Annual Conference outlining the contributions and/or work.
- The applicant must be a current active CSEP certified member (CSEP-CPT or CSEP-CEP) in good standing and must also have been an active member in good standing during the membership year immediately preceding the award.
- The applicant has made significant contributions to the advancement of the Professional Standards Program® in Canada.
- The applicant must be first author on the abstract submitted for the oral presentation.
- Submit an abstract adhering to the Annual Scientific Meeting Submission Guidelines and declare it for the CSEP Professional Member Award consideration.
- Provide a detailed two-page (~600 words) outline of your research/work, including its rationale, objectives/hypothesis, methodology, results, and significance, particularly highlighting its contribution to CSEP resources.
- Include a one-page (~300 words) letter from your supervisor, employment supervisor, or a CSEP certified member detailing your contributions and role in the research/work.
- A selection committee, including the Vice Chair of Professional Standards, Director CEP or Director CPT, and one CSEP member, will evaluate applications received by the deadline.
- The selection committee will select up to four finalists, who will be informed at least one month prior to the CSEP Annual Conference.
- CSEP Professional Member Award finalists will present their abstracts in a scheduled communication session focusing on fitness, health, and physical activity.
- The award recipient will be announced during the CSEP Annual Conference Award Ceremony.
- Please note that incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
- The award recipients will also be presented with a certificate of acknowledgement at the CSEP Annual Conference Gala.
- Following the CSEP Annual Conference, the award recipient will receive a $500 (CAD) honorarium, while finalists will receive a $250 (CAD) honorarium, each to assist with travel expenses to the conference.
