The purpose of this award is to acknowledge the outstanding research and/or work conducted by a certified member (CSEP Certified Personal Trainers® (CSEP-CPT) and CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologists™ (CSEP-CEP). The research and/or work must contribute directly to the health and fitness industry. The recipient will provide a presentation at the CSEP Annual Conference outlining the award winning contributions and/or work.
- The applicant must be an active CSEP certified member (CSEP-CPT or CSEP-CEP) in good standing, during the membership year preceding the award.
- The applicant has made significant contributions to the advancement of the Professional Standards Program® in Canada.
- The applicant must be first author on the abstract submitted for the oral presentation.
- The applicant will submit a standard abstract formatted in accordance with the Annual Scientific Meeting Submissions Guidelines.
- Submit a declaration that the abstract is to be considered for the CSEP Certified Member Award.
- Submit a two-page (~600 words) outline that best describes the research/work t in greater detail. This outline should explain the rationale for the research, purpose and/or hypothesis, research design, results, a discussion that highlights the significance of the research, and how it contributes to CSEP resources and key references.
- Submit a one-page (~300 words) formal letter from the applicant’s supervisor, employee supervisor, or another CSEP certified member must also be submitted, which explains the role and contributions of the applicant towards the research/work.
- A selection committee will review the applications received prior to the submission deadline.
- The selection committee will consist of the Vice Chair of Professional Standards, Director CEP or Director CPT, and one CSEP member.
- The selection committee will select up to four finalists, who will be informed at least one month prior to the CSEP Annual Conference.
- CSEP Certified Member Award finalists will present their abstracts in a scheduled communication session focusing on fitness, health, and physical activity.
- The award recipient will be announced during the CSEP Annual Conference Award Ceremony.
- Please note that incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
