Dr. Kirstin Lane has been a CSEP certified member for more than 20 years. Over this period, she has worked tirelessly on numerous committees and working groups. If you work in the field of exercise science in Canada, your work has been impacted by Kirstin’s tireless volunteerism.
If you have used the CSEP Physical Activity Training for Health (CSEP-PATH®) Resource Manual, you have Kirstin to thank. Both in 2012-13 and 2018-19, Kirstin was an integral part of the working group to develop this ground-breaking resource that underlies the CSEP-CPT curriculum and has been widely adopted as a course textbook.
If you work with clinical clients, Kirstin may have worked with your clinic, providing you with resources to help your clients take on the challenge of life-changing, healthy lifestyle interventions.
If you are, or were certified as a CSEP-CPT or CSEP-CEP (or earlier CSEP certifications), your workshop, theory exam, and certification guide have been impacted through the time and resources provided by Kirstin to develop these components.
Importantly, as a contribution to the safety of Canadians who are engaging in physical activity for the first time, between 2015-2017 Kirstin was a key member of the working group that led the development of the CSEP Get Active Questionnaire and its associated resources to educate members on its use and efficacy.
In the Fall of 2020, you will once again be impacted by Kirstin’s work, as CSEP unveils the Canadian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for Adults: An Integration of Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviour, and Sleep. Kirstin, along with the team of exemplary researchers led by Robert Ross, PhD, Queen’s University, has capably represented the CSEP Board to ensure the guidelines reflect the Society’s high standards.
Kirstin is currently serving her second two-year term on the CSEP Board of Directors, and has previously served terms on the CSEP-CPT Technical Committee and the CSEP-PSP Committee. In 2017, Kirstin was honoured with the CSEP Professional Standards Program® Recognition Award.
We are grateful to Kirsten for her dedication to CSEP and the profession.
