Professional Development Credits
CSEP Certified Personal Trainers® (CSEP-CPT) and CSEP Certified Exercise Physiologists® (CSEP-CEP) must earn Professional Development Credits (PDCs) in order to maintain their certification. Certified members are encouraged to select quality professional development opportunities that will enhance their knowledge and expertise in the areas of health- and performance-related fitness applications for both apparently healthy and clinical populations.
The collection of PDCs must be completed by the time of renewal (annually on March 31) every second year and you must maintain proof of the PDCs you've earned in your personal files. You do not need to submit proof of you PDCs with your renewal. Keep all records in case you are selected for the random PDC audit that happens throughout the year.
As of April 1, 2015 CSEP-CPTs are required to collect only 20 PDCs every two years and will be audited in even ending years (i.e. 2014, 2016, 2018).
CSEP-CEPs are required to collect 30 PDCs every two years and will be audited in odd ending years (i.e. 2015, 2017, 2019).
